Salford City say there are no current plans to play fixtures behind close doors amidst concerns over the spread of coronavirus.

This comes as speculation grows the football authorities are set to act following an increase in diagnosed cases of Covid-19.

Other leagues across Europe have imposed measures such as suspending fixtures and playing games behind closed doors.

So far no announcements have been made in England although last night’s game between Manchester City and Arsenal was called-off due to players being in contact with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

A Salford City spokesman said the games were going ahead as normal and the club hasn’t had any new information.

The spokesman added that if new information is received then will let fans know immediately.

The Ammies have nine games left of the standard league season, with four due to be played at the Peninsula Stadium.

Salford are currently on a good run of form, sitting in 10th eight points off the playoffs.

The playoffs are due to be played week commencing 12th-17th May.
