Manchester Originals fans will have to wait to purchase tickets for the inaugural edition of The Hundred as the England and Wales Cricket Board have suspended the next two ticket sale windows.
Following the first priority window in February, the next priority window for subscribers of The Hundred was due to open on 2 April – six days before tickets were supposed to go on general sale.
The news comes after the ECB made to decision to delay the start of the professional season until 28 May and look at revised schedules for the whole game for June, July and August.
Sanjay Patel, managing director of The Hundred, commented: “In the midst of an epidemic which is affecting the nation in unprecedented ways, it would be wholly inappropriate for us to promote and sell tickets to The Hundred. We appreciate this may cause some disappointment to fans that were keen to purchase tickets in the April sales window, accessing early bird prices and securing tickets to the most in-demand games.
“When it is appropriate to go back on sale, we will of course offer the same ticket offers and accessible pricing. Like the rest of the nation, we all hope that it is not far away before cricket returns to our screens, stadiums, parks and clubs.”
The Manchester Originals are the Emirates Old Trafford outfit for The Hundred and will take on franchises from Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, London, Nottingham and Southampton.
Coached by former Australian international Simon Katich, the Originals captured the signatures of Daniel Christian, Imran Tahir and Mitch Santner at the player draft last October.
They are scheduled to play the Northern Superchargers in their opening match at Old Trafford on 18 July.
