A Salford workout group has started streaming their workouts live every weekday, in a bid to help mums and their children stay positive, mentally and physically, through these challenging times.

‘Sweaty Mama @ Home’ is continuing to reach thousands across the UK, and help mums and dads exercise, bond with their child and connect with other parents, whilst maintaining some structure in their lives.

Government guidance to stay at home during the COVID-19 pandemic has made it all the more important to have a support network throughout

Laura Burns, 28, franchise owner of Sweaty Mama Farnworth Kearsley & Boothstown, said: “I think it will really help mums and families in this time, exercise is fantastic for both physical and mental health.

“Moving our classes online means we can bring some normality and fun into our mums’ homes!”

It is an opportunity to take part in the sessions from home, with Facebook live sessions with their local instructor. The classes run every weekday at 10 am and cost £6 for the whole week.

Miss Burns said: “The classes last around an hour, similar to our face to face classes we have a chat beforehand, make sure everyone’s okay and then get started!

“The online classes have been a huge hit across all the franchises… We have older children and even pets joining in!

The group was established by Hannah McVerry in 2014 following the birth of her second child, where she suffered severe Diastasis Recti, which is when the space between your left and right belly muscles widens.

All ‘Sweaty mama’ instructors and franchises are pre and post-natal qualified as well as taking an indepth training qualification programme.

Miss Burns said: “Once they’ve booked on, they’re added to a private Facebook group where they can connect with other mums, watch that week’s saved sessions and join in the actual live sessions each day too.

At a time like this, it’s so important to stay connected.

“Our classes might be the only interaction some of our mums get in a week so it’s really important they have an option to stay connected to the friends they’ve made and to the health benefits an exercise class brings.”

It is a chance to rebuild their fitness and engage with other mums at this key time in their lives.

Miss Burns said: Our @ Home sessions mean we can reach ladies who usually wouldn’t be able to get to our classes – connecting more mums than ever before!
