Salford City FC have announced the signing of striker Ian Henderson on a two-year deal, following his release from Rochdale.

The 35-year-old left Rochdale earlier in the Summer as their second highest goalscorer with 126 goals to his name, ending a seven-year spell at the club.

Henderson helped his former side to SkyBet League One promotion in 2013/14, and was top goalscorer at the Spotland for the following six years, netting double figures in nine of his last ten seasons.

Speaking in his first interview with the club on what he wants to achieve with the Ammies, Henderson said: “I just want to be a part of a winning team and with the plans that Graham has put together, I’m excited to be apart of that.

“Its not just goals, it’s leadership that i’ll bring with my actions on a day-to-day basis in training and on a match day.

“If I can score some goals and help the team be successful, then I’ve done my job.”

Speaking about his newest addition, manager Graham Alexander said: “Ian is another fantastic addition to the squad, a vastly experienced forward with a proven goalscoring pedigree.

“He’s a player I’ve admired for a good few years now and I’m delighted that we have the opportunity to bring him to our club.”

Henderson becomes Salford’s fifth summer signing so far joining Ashley Hunter, Jason Lowe, Tom Clarke and Jordan Turnbull through the doors of the Peninsula Stadium.
