Saturday will see Salford City return home against fellow unbeaten outfit Forest Green Rovers in SkyBet League Two, but Ammies’ manager Graham Alexander states it’s just another game.

Both teams come into the clash with 4 points after a win and draw, but when asked about the importance of beating a fellow promotion contender, Alexander said: ” I don’t see this game more important in our mindset than against Exeter last week or Stevenage next week.”

Alexander made it clear that it is too early to be looking at positions in the league table, stating: “Until you get right down to the wire and it’s you and your direct rivals, I think there’s a lot of teams in this division that are capable in the top positions in the league so it’s too early to judge who’s going to be there at the end.

“You’re looking probably 10 to 15 games in where the league will start to take shape.”

This fixture last season turned out to be one Salford would like to forget with the visitors leaving the Peninsula with a 4-0 victory.

And the fixtures continue to pile up for the Ammies, with the second EFL Trophy group game against Morecambe taking place at the Peninsula Stadium on Tuesday 29th September ( 7:45pm KO).

After a heavy 0-6 defeat to Manchester United’s Under-21s in the first group game, the Salford gaffer spoke about the importance of bouncing back and gaining a positive result.

Alexander added: “In that game we played everyone that hadn’t played the week before, we don’t have a squad big enough for all players too play in their correct positions and that will be the same on Tuesday.

“However, it’s a chance for some young players to impress – we obviously want to go into the game and win.”

Salford City’s clash with Forest Green Rovers kicks off at the Peninsula Stadium at 3pm on Saturday.
