Sale Sharks Women travel to Twickenham Stoop this Saturday to play Harlequins Women in the Allianz Premier 15s, in the hope they can avoid their fourth defeat in a row.

Newly-formed ahead of the 2020/21 season, Sale are the only North-West side in the division.

The Sharks have had a tough start to their maiden Premier 15s campaign, losing their first three games. Their most recent defeat came in the form of a 40-18 hammering from visiting side Bristol Bears Women.

Sale’s defence had to work hard early on in the game as the Bears pushed towards the Sale try line through a break from Natalia John. Sale got their first points on the board only moments later as Bristol conceded a penalty.

However, their opponents came crashing back with an 11-point lead from Elinor Snowsill. Bristol continued to push in their attack, Sarah Bern troubling the Sale defence before Alicia Butchers eventually got over for Bristol’s third try.

The Bears began the second half with back-to-back tries as Clara Neilson got over from the driving maul and Jasmine Joyce ran clean through just seconds later. Sale did get their first try of the day 15 minutes from the finish as Lisa Neumann broke away and ran through the Bristol defence, but it was a mere consolation.

The Sharks, who sit in 9th on zero points with a game in hand over bottom-of-the-table Darlington Mowden Park Sharks, will be desperate for the win against Harlequins this weekend to get them up and running.

Harlequins Women have been doing well this season, and go into the fixture off the back of a 24-33 away win against Loughborough Lightning.

Saturday’s host sit at the top of the table with four wins from four so far this season, ahead of Saracens Women on points difference.
