Quayside Media City remain vigilant amid Covid-19 fears, with essential stores open for collection only during the current lockdown restrictions.

Quayside Media City has announced some stores are open to customers Monday to Saturday 10am – 5pm, and Sundays 11am – 5pm.

These include Newspoint, Post Office, Holland & Barrett, and takeaway services from Costa, Cuppa Coffee, and Lime.

Centre Manager at Quayside Media City, Kelly Hurst, said: “We are engaging with our operators to support them through this challenging period.

“We have also moved some of our marketing support initially planned for November into December and the New Year to support with Christmas and Winter Sale periods when all operators are able to re-open.”

“We are following the government guidance and during lockdown, our non-essential retail, dine in restaurants and leisure operators are closed until further notice.”

“Holland and Barrett and Newspoint including the Post Office remain open. We also have takeaway service and delivery available from Costa and Lime.”

Acting general manager at the Lime Bar and Restaurant, Jordan Pendlebury, said: “The news of a second national lockdown wasn’t some that we had hoped to hear. Lime is a small family run business that employs over 30 staff. So to be told that we have to close our doors was awful.

“We of course support the Governments decision, in a bid of helping the bigger cause, and are grateful of the support they’re offering the team with the continued furlough payments. We remain positive for a brighter December.”

“During the initial lockdown, in March, we remained closed for 3 weeks before making the decision to begin operating again with a takeaway service. This has been important to keeping the business open. We were fortunate enough that on 4th July we were able to reopen our doors to welcome back the public.

“When the second lockdown was announced, we already had an established takeaway service, so we were able to continue part of our service as normal.”

“We expected a higher surge of orders, so we were able to offer more work and support to people who have suffered from the pandemic, which as a family run business, this means a lot to us.”

“Without the takeaway service, and a very dedicated team, then we don’t know what our future would of held.”

“We did have to make sure that our food was both desirable and affordable, to reach those who felt they were missing our signature dishes they could easily access them.”

The Quayside Christmas markets were set to begin on November 20, but they have been cancelled until further notice.

Non-essential retail will also remain closed. The national lockdown is expected to end on December 2.
