Wrestler and former Salford Red Devil Ridge Holland (Luke Menzies) is set for “a long period” away from the ring after getting injured on this week’s NXT tapings, days after interrupting NXT Takeover.

At the end of the pay-per-view, Ridge Holland appeared out of nowhere with Adam Cole seemingly unconscious over his shoulder. It appeared to signal the Yorkshireman was heading for a major push at the top of the NXT card moving forward.

It was even rumoured across social media that Holland could replace Cole as leader of the Undisputed Era faction as a potential angle.

However, last Wednesday Holland went down with a nasty leg injury in a singles match against Oney Lorcan on NXT.

Holland attempted to catch Lorcan after the American flung himself over the top rope. Holland’s leg then appeared to fold underneath him.

The Yorkshireman is still only 32 years old and had a 10 year professional career in rugby before trading in his craft for professional wrestling in 2016. Just two years into his indy run, he was signed by WWE.

Holland had so far delivered on his promise to bring some “Yorkshire grit” to the ring and remains one of a handful of stars currently undefeated on the brand.

It is currently unknown how long Holland will be out of the ring for, but sources close to WWE say he could be out for a “long period of time.”

This is just one of many cases as NXT currently appears to be going through an injury crisis. Just one week ago, Karrion Kross had to drop the NXT title days after winning it because of a separated shoulder in a match that saw him dethrone Keith Lee as champion.
