A group of colleges in Salford have been commended for an award for the support they provide to students.

The Salford City Colleges (SCC) group were recognised by the Association of Colleges (AoC).

The Salford City Colleges group includes; Pendleton Sixth Form, Eccles Sixth Form, FutureSkills at MediaCityUK, City Skills and Worsley College.

They were nominated for commendation alongside five other colleges for the RCU Award for the support they provide, and will find out on November 17th whether they have been nominated as a finalist for the award at the AoC Annual Conference.

Assessors have recommended that Salford City Colleges should be commended, having demonstrated a high level of innovation, impact and sustainability.

It is recognition for the Salford City Colleges for the work they have done to support students in different ways, in particular providing additional support to students who may need it.

The awards consist of 11 categories, with different colleges from across the country being recognised for their efforts.

The Association of Colleges (AoC) Beacon Awards celebrate the best and most innovative practice among UK further education (FE) colleges. It is managed by AoC and run through AoC Charitable Trust – a registered charity.

The aim of the awards Programme is to demonstrate and promote the far-reaching impact of colleges on their students and the communities they serve.

The commended and winning case studies will be used to increase understanding of colleges’ contribution to educational skills policy and economic and social development.
