A Salford homelessness charity is appealing for donations to fill 250 Christmas hampers for families and households in need this festive season.
Emmaus Salford runs Lucie’s Pantry, in Fitzwarren Street, Pendleton, as a social supermarket providing food and home essentials to members of the Salford community.

Kev, one of the people who run Lucie’s pantry, said: “Christmas is all about giving and we hope people think about the less fortunate, especially at this time of the year. We support so many people and families who are really struggling and hopefully these hampers will ease a bit of pressure off their shoulders.”
The pantry is run by people who used to be homeless and supported by Emmaus alongside local volunteers.
Business development manager Jackie Smith said: “We’ve prepared Christmas hampers for our Lucie’s Pantry members for the past few years, and they were really well received.
“Our pantry membership has increased this year and we also want to offer hampers to other households we have supported throughout the pandemic. Any hamper donations you can spare will make a huge difference to our appeal.”
The Emmaus team is appealing for donations of non-perishable food and goods which will make Christmas a little bit more special for their members.
Donations can be dropped off at Emmaus Salford Community Homestore, Monday to Saturday, 10am and 3pm, before Friday December 10.
