After a two year absence, Sounds from the Other City festival is returning to Chapel Street in May 2022.

For their exciting return, the creative festival will be centred in central Chapel Street area, from Bexley Square and the New Oxford Pub up towards the Old Pint Pot, taking in St Philips Church along the way towards five four studios taking in Middlewood Locks, Regent Trading Estate and Hot Bed Press along the way.

The last time SFTOC brought its magical experience to Salford was for their 15th year celebration in 2019, having a two year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Launching in 2004, Sounds from the Other City began with the intention to appreciate and celebrate the work of independent promoters and artists in Salford and Manchester, giving new music and new artists the recognition they deserve.

In the previous years the festival have seen the likes of Marina and The Diamonds, Alt-J, and Black Midi.

When asked what Salfordians can expect from the return of SFTOC, Creative Director Rivca Burns said: “The immersion of the experience – from the moment you enter the area we hope that you feel something, that you can get taken away in the magic of Sounds from the Other City.

“[And] the community spirit – our audience is a mix of artists, loyal SFTOC go-ers and first timers to the area that cross ages and backgrounds and it is this blend that makes it so unique – everyone is there to support one another from every angle.”
