A new dating show called ‘Romeo and Duet’ hosted by Oti Mabuse for ITV is being filmed at the Dock10 Studios in MediaCityUK.

The show gives love searching singles the opportunity to impress a potential suitor with their singing voice, the only catch is that they are not actually able to see them.

This means that the ‘pickers’ must choose their match based solely on the quality of their singing voice.

Filming of the show is already underway, with three of the episodes already filmed as of the first of February.

The show has been created by Goat Films, founder Mel Crawford spoke proudly about having Oti as the host for the show: “Oti’s talent has been bouncing off our screens for years and we are delighted to be working with her.”

Oti herself was also very optimistic about her role as host, saying: “It’s always been a dream of mine to host so this is a real pinch me moment,

“it’s a blessing for me to finally be able to share this news. I honestly can’t wait to get started!”

I spoke to Harry Jerome who attended the filming of the second episode of the show that took place on the 29th of January.

“It just sort if confirmed to me how strange it is to watch I suppose because it’s not all in order, things do happen again, some of the reactions are not real.”

He also mentioned the interactive aspect of the filming, saying: “You are also basically performing monkeys for the production company,”

You’ll get told when to clap, how loud to clap, when to stand up, when to cheer, when to sing along.”

In spite of this he was still very positive about the experience, saying he could ‘definitely’ see himself coming back to see another show being filmed, but added it would likely be something else, saying:

“…Probably not the same thing again cause I can imagine that can get quite repetitive.”

He highly recommended to go and see a show if you haven’t already, saying: “Definitely I would recommend it even if you only go once and decide you don’t like it.”

It’s really interesting to see how that works behind the scenes and how hard those teams work to make that production happen.”

Finally, he spoke highly about MediaCity and it’s ability to hold a show like ‘Romeo and Duet’, saying: “It was a really brilliant setting to come and watch the filming.”

It was a really nice place to be generally… somewhere that I would definitely want to go back to again, maybe not to watch a TV show, maybe just for leisure.”

Audience tickets are free entry and can be applied for via this link however you must be over 18 to attend.

The show is filmed at Dock10 Studios, MediaCity, Salford, Manchester M50 2HQ.
