After two consecutive wins to start the season, the Salford Red Devils are looking to bounce back from defeat to Hull FC in their last outing against the Huddersfield Giants this Sunday at The John Smith’s stadium.

The 48-16 defeat at Hull FC’s MKM stadium saw an end to Salford’s 100% record in this season’s Betfred Super League, despite the Huddersfield Giants also coming up short 22-12 to the Wigan Warriors.

The last round of fixtures sees the Red Devils sit sixth in the Super League, level on points with both their opponents and fourth place, motivated to move handsomely up the table with a win at the weekend.

Today, the news was released that Red Devils’ centre Dan Sarginson, who is suspended for the weekend’s game, has been called up to Shaun Wane’s England’s Rugby League squad.

Ryan Brierley will also be suspended for the game due to being issued a one-match ban, as well as James Greenwood who suffered a pulled hamstring in the warm-up of the Hull game, but apart from that, there are no other knocks.

Ken Sio will also be looking to continue his impressive form, after breaking the club record of scoring seven consecutive tries in Super League games and getting 15 in the seven games in total.

Head Coach Paul Rowley was not happy with the result, and speaking to the press after the game, he said: “People are saying that if we were offered 2 wins from our first 3 games we’d be happy with that but that’s not the case here. We don’t want to lose to anyone.

“We won’t look for excuses we’ll just be honest with ourselves like we have been all pre-season”.
