Shaun Wane has named the first England squad of the year ahead of the World Cup after finalising his 30-man training squad earlier today.

Salford Red Devils centre Dan Sarginson has been named in the squad by his former coach at the Wigan Warriors.

He has played in two of Salford’s first three games this season against Toulouse Olympique and Hull FC.

Sarginson has been named in all of Shaun Wane’s England squads since he was appointed in February 2020.

He has made three appearances for England. Making his debut in the 16-12 defeat to Australia in the 2014 four nations. Whilst his last international appearance was in a 16-17 defeat to New Zealand in the 2016 four nations.

Sarginson was named in both squads last year for England’s clashes with France and the Combined Nations All Stars but did not feature in the matchday squad.

Former Salford players Niall Evalds and Stefan Ratchford have also been named in the squad. Both will be battling for the fullback spot at the World Cup.

Ratchford has made six appearances for England since his move to Warrington in 2012, scoring two tries.

Evalds also made his England debut in last Autumns victory over France after an impressive first season at Castleford.
