MedEquip4Kids Charity has helped over 80,000 children in Salford. For the seventh year, the charity will be raising money to provide medical equipment and resources for the wellbeing of babies and children, by hosting a duck race.

The event originally launched in Manchester in 1985, with the aim of funding healthcare for children and babies, where equipment is not available on the NHS due to lack of funding.

Evelyn Glavery said:” We raise money for cots and incubators, medical equipment and sometimes just to enhance the facilities like a sensory room or beds so parents can stay with the child overnight”

“We’ve been holding it since 2014, we’re glad to be back, it’s well-attended by the local community, it’s fun and over that time we’ve raised lots of money for hospitals around Manchester.”

The Duck racing event will take place this Good Friday on April the 15th between 1pm and 4:30pm. The races seventh annual event will be hosted at the Helly Hanson water sports Centre.

It cost £2.50 to launch a duck and all funds go towards helping kids pay for medical care

Some of the prizes for winning include Lowry Theatre tickets and a year’s supply of Irn Bru.

Ghazala Baig, Chief Executive at MedEquip4Kids said: “We are so thankful for the fantastic support received from our Mega Duck sponsors. We know that this is going to be the best year yet for the Quays Duck Race.”

Tickets are available via the Mediquip4kids website and can be bought on the day.
