Kidscan Children’s Cancer Research is back with its large-scale first fundraising event of the year, but its not your average charity walk.
On Saturday April 9th, between 11-3 at Swinton Square Shopping Centre, brings the return of the Lego Walk.
Alison England, the community fundraising manager at Kidscan said: “We wanted something that was quite different, its quite unusual and some people haven’t heard it before and some people are like ‘Really? You’re going to walk on Lego?’ but I have done it before and its not as bad as you may think.”
In 2019 Kidscan hosted an event at the Trafford Centre hosting the Lego Walk for the first time and it was a huge success, so they have brought it back for 2022.
It’s £5 for adults and £3 for kids, you can sign up on the website below or turn up on the day and take part in the event – and get family and friends to fundraise you. Many people have already signed up and have been raising those vital funds to support Kidscan.
“It will be a short track of Lego, so it will be not as painful and not as scary as a fire walk or a glass walk. There will also be an experience provider who will give you full training on the day.” said England.
Kidscan Children’s Cancer Research is a Salford-based charity that funds and manages research into new and improved treatments for children with cancer.
“1 in 500 kids will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 14. Standing on Lego isn’t that bad when you compare it to what these kids are going through.” said England.
All the funds made from the Lego Walk will go into research projects to finding better and more suitable treatment options for children suffering with cancer.
Alongside the Lego Walk, there is also a chance to make your own Easter bunny or chick made out of Lego to take home with you.
“This is something everyone can do, we had someone who was in their 80s and a little girl who was barely walking take part. It’s a nice event for families, children and local communities to get involved in during the Easter break.”
