Liberal Democrats gained two councillors and the Conservatives added one to their tally – denting Labour’s dominance of Salford council but still leaving the ruling party with 49 of the city’s 60 councillors.

Chris Twells (Lib Dem) beat John Walsh (Lab) in Ordsall and Alex Warren (Lib Dem) beat Labour’s Phil Tresadern in Quays. The Conservative gain was in Worsley and Westwood Park where Adam Kealey beat Labour’s Tony Davies.
