Irlam FC welcome City of Liverpool to Silver Street tonight in a crucial clash in the Hallmark Premier League, as the team looks to make progress in their fight against relegation (KO 19:45).

The City of Salford-based team are 19th place in the league, occupying the last position above the relegation zone by goal difference.

Irlam FC have got three games in hand over Abbey Hey in 20th and four on AFC Liverpool in 21st position, howver, and they will be looking to take full advantage, as Abbey Hey do not play tonight.

Their opposition won’t make it easy though, as City of Liverpool find themselves in 7th place and have lost just seven times in 23 games this season. They have lost two of their last three matches, though.

Jordan Icely in Irlam’s top scorer in all competitions with 12 goals in all competitions.

Irlam FC won their last match 3-1 away at bottom-placed side Barnton on Saturday, with goals from Charlie Doyle, Connor Martin and Matthew Boland.

Doyle had put Irlam into the lead after just six minutes, before Martin made it two to the home side in the 24th minute.

Three minutes later, Irlam had made it three when Boland spotted the Barnton goalkeeper off his line and fired home from the halfway line.

A late second half penalty gave Barnton a consolation and denied Irlam a clean sheet, but Michael Dodd’s side will still be looking for much of the same against City of Liverpool.

Irlam were particularly potent against Barnton early in the match, and while City of Liverpool will be a very different opposition, it is likely a tactic the home side will look to employ again.

City of Liverpool won 5-0 the last time the two sides met, with goals coming from Ryan Mitchell, Jamie McDonald and Karl Noon.
