SALIX homes have announced plans to invest £22m into 2200 Salford homes over the next two years.
The social housing provider, gained control of 8500 homes across the city in November, after tenants voted for the transfer of ownership from Salford City Council to the not-for-profit organisation.
The transfer unlocked a planned £75m investment scheme. The improvements are to be made over the next five years and this announcement, made on Friday, announces the first phase of the developments.
The first set of improvements will see 18 different communities in Salford receive investment.
Ageing tower block trio Mulberry, Magnolia and Sycamore Court, on Pendleton’s Broadwalk Estate, are among the communities earmarked for investment.
The three greying tower blocks, which are in the heart of the Pendleton regeneration area, will undergo a £7m transformation, with 281 properties set to be completely modernised.
Additionally 166 properties on the South Ordsall Esate will also undergo refurbishment; while a further 230 properties on the Tootal Estate in Weaste will be overhauled.

The transfer is expected to take place at the end of March, and the first phase of improvement work will begin in spring.
