RAE Morris was at The Ritz in Manchester last night, Quays News entertainment reporter Rachel Foy was there for us…
English singer/songwriter Rae Morris ‘wowed’ crowds last night at The Ritz in Manchester, supported by Dan Owen and Roo Panes, they all created an atmosphere that excited the crowd more than is imaginable.
Owen opened the show and created a vibe throughout the arriving crowd, his version of the song; ‘Little Red Rooster’ seemed the favourite as the crowd’s cheers just got louder and louder. It was a rugged but talented, with a voice beyond his years, the fans he has picked up from performances at Glastonbury were out in the masses giving him all the support he needed to open what was about to become an impressive show.
Panes, a former member of Burberry Acoustic, also gave a great performance as he played his 12 string acoustic guitar and with three indie/folk genre EPs he had enough content for a show of his own. Both artists were individual with their music taste and performances. However, it was thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd, and created an atmosphere that was unbeatable for Morris.
Morris started of gigging in Blackpool – her home town – and around the North West. She attracted the attention of BBC Radio Lancashire and eventually performed on the BBC Introducing stage at the Reading and Leeds festivals. She was then signed to Universal Music Publishing Group and to Atlantic Records, and then released up and coming music on EPs, such as her debut single “Don’t Go”.
Although she has toured before with other artists and gigged as a solo artist, her presence on stage was impeccable, she looked so effortless and enjoyed her own performance with the massive encouragement of her northern fans.
During the concert she explained to the audience how much her performances mean to her. She told of how, as an early musician, she played in the studios over the road from The Ritz, above Gorilla. Every time she drove past, she dreamed and prayed of the chance to perform here and now her dream has come true and is growing in every way.
In between songs she talked about her emotions and how they have changed through time as she has grown as a singer song writer. Her fans say they have never seen such talent displayed, and became speechless at how cool and in love with her own performance.
She showed us that her music means so much to her and the support she gets helps her build to make better shows for the future!
