MACCLESFIELD Town go into Saturday’s home game with Lincoln City looking for a first win in the National League since January 2 (KO:15:00 GMT).

John Askey’s men are winless in seven and have slumped from the fringes of the play-offs to 13th place over the last two months. They are also without a victory on home soil since a 2-0 success over Bromley on November 21.

Lincoln City meanwhile are in 10th position and have won three of their last four fixtures, but the successes against Southport, Eastleigh and Guiseley all came at Sincil Bank. The Imps have struggled on their travels of late however, they are currently on a run of seven without a win stretching back to November 21 when they made the arduous journey to Torquay United and returned to Lincolnshire with three points following a 3-1 success.

Both sides have a marksmen at the top of the league’s goalscoring charts. For the Silkmen, Kristian Dennis has 29 goals in all competitions whilst Chris Moyses’ side will have Matt Rhead leading the line. The former-Mansfield forward has 19 strikes in the National League but netted a hat-trick at Whitehawk in the FA Cup taking his overall tally to 22.

The reverse fixture was played very early in the season at Sincil Bank and despite the Silkmen storming into a 2-0 lead after just five minutes, Lincoln came back to win 5-3 thanks mainly to a treble from Liam Hearn.

Team News

Macclesfield will have winger Chris Sutherland available after the former Oldham Athletic man signed a contract extension on Friday.

The foursome of midfielder Danny Whitaker, attackers Theo Bailey-Jones, Danny Rowe and centre-back Neill Byrne were absent from last weekend’s trip to local rivals Altrincham so John Askey would welcome any of them back into this weekend’s squad if they returned to full-fitness.

To the best of our knowledge Lincoln City will have all of the players who played in the 2-0 win over Aldershot Town available for this week’s trip to East Cheshire.

There is also set to be a sibling rivalry at the Moss Rose as the Silkmen’s John McCombe takes on brother Jamie. Both are expected to be at the heart of their respective defences.

Provisional Squads

Macclesfield Town: Jalal (GK), Branagan (GK), Halls, Cowan, Pilkington, McCombe, Fitzpatrick, Turnbull (C), Sutherland, Lewis, Whitehead, Holroyd, Phillips, Sampson, Dennis, Styche

Lincoln City: Farman (GK), Grant (GK), Wood, McCombe, Power (C), Beevers, Bush, Hawkridge, Tempest, Caton, Muldoon, Sparrow, Wildin, McDaid, Maris, Rhead.
