FORMER captain Dean Stott has ended his five-year stay with FC United of Manchester to complete a move to Colne FC.
The 27-year-old scored 22 goals in 222 appearances for FC United since arriving at the start of the 2011-12 seeason after a two-year spell at Hyde.
The versatile player, who can occupy a defensive or midfield role, had been a regular in the FC team during their rise to the National League North for the first time.
He has made 27 outings this season, taking him up to sixth in FC’s list of all-time appearance makers, but hasn’t featured in a matchday squad since the 4-3 win over Harrogate Town on January 30.
FC United boss Karl Marginson said: “Dean has been a great servant to the club over five years during which time he captained the side and was part of a very successful group of players.
“Everyone at FC wishes him good luck at Colne and all the best for the future.”
Stott, who captained the Rebels before the current campaign, leaves Broadhurst Park to join a Colne side who are chasing promotion in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.
He also returns to Lancashire having previously turned out for Burnley and Preston North End’s youth teams.
