Curtins and Web Applications UK say that they are ‘Very pro Salford’ at the computing, science and engineering careers fair yesterday.

The University of Salford held the event in the Maxwell Upper Hall on Wednesday 22nd November and showcased potential employers around the Manchester and Salford area.

Employers such as Curtins, Web Applications UK, Barclays, AECOM, Capita, EY, PWC and Fujitsu were at the event give their insight on industry standards.

Both companies, which are situated in Manchester, attended the event not only as sponsors but to look for potential graduate employees.

Web Applications UK is a software house based in Oldham which provides software solutions to the travel industry.

Rebecca Lawton a representative for Web Applications UK said: ‘We normally come to the event every year, we get a lot of applications from Salford students so it’s a good event for us to speak to prospective students.

‘We look for passion and capacity, so it’s not really about what they already know it’s about what they can learn.’

Curtins is an award winning leading consultancy working to provide a diverse range of services from Structural Engineering to Expert Advisory Services.

Affan Nagori a representative for Curtins said: ‘I myself am a part of the Industrial advisory board at the University of Salford and we’re very pro Salford.’

The careers fair gives students an opportunity to gain employability advice and meet with potential employers.
