SALFORD NHS CCG brought together residents on Wednesday for a Salford citizens panel, where they were able to voice any concerns to a large variety of professionals.

The Clinical Commissioning Group brought together many local health, safety and support groups to Swinton Golf Club this Tuesday.

Here they hosted information laden stalls within the hall, allowing residents to cycle at their leisure and ask any questions they may have concerning their projects.

Brain Wroe, CCG Lay Member for Engagement, described the key focus for the event to be making sure everyone is; “Fit and well, keeping warm in winter”.

Professional presentations were given in regard to the development of the Salford Royal Major Trauma Centre, Adult Safeguarding in Salford, the dangers of heat loss and there was even an interactive quiz thrown in for fun.

Eleven groups had stands such as the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, the Salford Energize Centre, Helping Hands, Age UK and more were represented at the conference, engaging with the citizens and guest speakers alike.

These groups aimed to both give advice to benefit the community and express the work they have each been doing in the sixth months since the previous Salford citizens panel.

Work such as the development of an app to assist those struggling with dementia or providing those in need with winter warmth packs.

Much of the day was devoted feedback from the Salford citizens panel, highlighted by the NHS CCG as one of the key benefits of the group, discussion time given after each and every presentation, questions being able to be fielded both verbally and via the extensive feedback forms and question sheets.

The Salford citizen panels are held every six months. The progress that has been achieved since the last meeting is outlined and shown to the public at each panel, proving the impact of their feedback.

The NHS Salford CCG will also begin hosting a radio show starting from Wednesday 6th December, hoping to be able to have a greater impact on the community they represent with increased communications.
