HOSPITALITY professionals in Manchester say that staff will be “harder to replace” when the United Kingdom leaves the European Union in 2019.

According to the British Hospitality Association, 75 per cent of waiting staff in the country are from the EU leading to worries about how surplus jobs will be filled if and when workers return to home.

Hotel food services manager Elaine Bowers said, “It worries me a bit, there area lot of people here already who are going to start thinking about moving home because they are worried about the impact it is going to have on them in the future, so I think they will become harder to replace because of the type of industry that we are.”

Beastro Director and co-owner Richard Brown is also concerned for the industry, particularly large establishments.

“There will be more opportunities for our own people but are they willing to do the job”.
