Premier League table toppers Manchester City will face the only remaining Swiss team left in the competition FC Basel, whilst neighbours Manchester United face a tough task against Spanish side Sevilla.

Pep Guardiola’s rampant Manchester City side were rewarded for their impressive group stage performance with a relatively comfortable tie against FC Basel – although, the Swiss side did manage to beat Manchester United 1-0 in the group stages last month.

Following the draw, Manchester City were made the bookmakers favourites as a result of their dominant run in the league and the other favourites receiving tough draws.

Meanwhile, City’s cross-city rivals Manchester United will face Spanish side Sevilla in what could prove to be a tough draw for the reds.

Sevilla, who won the UEFA Europa League three consecutive times between 2014 and 2016 came back from three goals down to draw against Liverpool in the Champions’ League group stages.

Following the draw, former Liverpool, Manchester United and England striker Michael Owen tweeted

It’s been an exceptional season for the Manchester clubs in Europe so far.

Both City and United topped their groups with relative ease, overcoming Shaktar Donetsk, Napoli, CSKA Moscow and Benfica.

Elsewhere, Chelsea were handed a tough test against Spanish giants FC Barcelona while Tottenham also have a tough task ahead against 201/17 runners up and 33 time Italian champions Juventus.

Liverpool were drawn against FC Porto, with whom Manchester United managers Jose Mourinho won his first Champions League back in 2004.

Across Europe, Neymar’s Paris Saint Germain were drawn against last season’s champions Real Madrid in what’s sure to be a mouth-watering game.

2013 winners Bayern Munich will face Turkish champions Besiktas and Roma will face Manchester City conquerors Shaktar Donetsk.

The first legs of the Round of 16 will kick off across February 13/14 and February 20/21, while the second-leg ties will take place on the 6/7 and 13/14 March.
