Transport for Greater Manchester (tfgm) are hosting a winter walking week which began on the 17th February and will conclude on the 25th February 2018.

Rae Radford, from Salford said: ”Walking is extremely important. ”I’ve got to get my 10,000 steps done every day otherwise i feel guilty.”

Believe and Achieve UK said:”As a personal trainer i think walking is severely under rated for weight loss and health.

”It is a fantastic way to burn calories, get outside, clear your head and get moving.”

Tfgm have over 100 free guided walks suitable for all ages and abilities, many of the walks are family orientated to entertain the children over the half term break.

Tfgm have included difficult walks for those who like a challenge and also many shorter walks on flat terrain for those who are less mobile.

Tfgm have encouraged people to get out walking as it is free, kind to the environment and good for your physical health and wellbeing.

Claire Gamble, from Manchester said: ”It feels so good to get out in the fresh air and meet new people too.”

Walking is a great way to get around Greater Manchester. A brisk 25 minute walk every day can add up to seven years to your life.
