Salford Red Devils fans have taken to Twitter to voice their disappointment at the RFL after Salford’s fixture against Toulouse was changed last night.

The game, which was to be played on Sunday 30th September, will now be played on Thursday 27th at 7:45pm.

The decision to change the game was out of the clubs hands however, which was explained on the club’s official website.

“Our final home game of the season against Toulouse has been moved forward to Thursday 27thSeptember, 7:45pm kick-off, so the game can be broadcast live on Sky Sports.”

The decision to change the fixture, just over a week before its intended date, has sparked a social media backlash from Devils fans. The reds faithful vented their anger on Twitter, with fans explaining that they now cannot get to the fixture, given it has been changed from a Sunday afternoon to a Thursday evening.

The much anticipated game is the final home fixture in Salford Red Devils season. The change will no doubt be a big blow to the club, with attendances expected to be much lower than the original date. The change could have longer lasting affects as well, with one fan even claiming that they may no longer wish to watch the team next season.

The club have acknowledged that fans fans who will now miss the game are disappointed with the decision, reiterating that it is out of their hands.

“We realise this is scant consolation to fans who have booked travel and accommodation to London or who may now not be able to make the final home game of the season, but, unfortunately, due to the operational rules these games and dates of games were to be played were taken out of our hands.”

Salford had recently been on a five match winning streak before this weekends 16-18 defeat to Leeds. The Red Devils will be looking to end their home season on a high with a victory over Toulouse at the AJ Bell Stadium on the newly arranged date.
