Today marks 100 years since the creation of the Manchester & Salford Council of Social Service, offering support for the residents of both cities.

The Manchester & Salford Council of Social Service was first set up on the 22nd of July, 1919 and has provided infrastructure and support for organisations across the two cities ever since.

Salford CVs provide support for a number of organisations in the city, providing them with advice, guidance , training, funding, payroll and DBS service.

Now there are  1,500 community groups, voluntary organisations, charities & social enterprises in Salford alone, with 47000+ volunteers.

At 5pm this evening, the official Twitter page of the Manchester Community central will be tweeting out their memories of the 100 year partnership, as well as inviting the residents of Manchester and Salford to do the same, with the hashtag #100years.

Check back tomorrow when will have a full story on the celebrations on SalfordNow.
