Salford’s Go Green campaign is set to enter its fourth and final week, with the theme of eating sustainably.

The initiative has returned for another year and has spanned across four weeks, encouraging positive change amongst students and staff at the University of Salford, whilst involving the wider community in a range of free activities.

Climate change has become a front and center issue for many people.

Just today the Court of Appeal ruled Heathrow’s plans for a third runway illegal, due to climate change.

The proposal does not comply with the UK’s compliance in the Paris Agreement, signed in 2016 to promise a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

The university’s Union President Evie Adams told SalfordNow: “It’s about everyone doing a little bit and that creates a big impact.

“If only or two people try to do big things, it makes a smaller impact.”

Last year the University Union won a gold award for its efforts in sustainability.

Volunteers got their rain coats and wellies on in ‘Live Green’ week, planting hundreds of trees on the David Lewis Playing Fields, after the completion of a new football pitch which has taken away a lot of greenery from the area.

The University lives up to its promise of two trees planted for every one removed, called the 2-for-1 policy.

Check out the itinerary below for the upcoming week. All events are being held on the University Campus.
