Salford residents will be putting their creative projects on show this April.

The Week 53 festival will be returning to the Lowry as part of local project, The Twenty, in collaboration with Salford CVS.

The festival is also set to act as a 20th birthday celebration for the theatre.

Performances will inlcude:

  • A brand new musical from Salford’s Latchkey Kids
  • Salford’s Got Talent
  • A political fashion show
  • Poetry and folk night at Bridgewater Canal Lighthouse

The festival will also feature standalone artwork dealing with serious issues, including a multimedia experience capturing the last breaths of terminally ill patients.

Throughout the week, there will also be other events, such as a family fun day in Grosvenor Park and a one day mini-festival meant for tackling loneliness.

The Lowry’s director of learning and engagement and creative lead on the project, Lynsey O’Sullivan said:

“The Twenty was all about giving ordinary people the chance to turn their creativity into reality.”

She went on to say that she was “impressed” with the submissions the project received.

Week 53 will be running at The Lowry from April 24th until May 3rd, so save the dates.
