Figures released today by the Department for Health and Social Care show an additional 110 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Salford.

This has taken the city’s total number of cases to 4,738.

This increase comes after the Prime Minister introduces the three-tier system of restrictions in the uk:

Medium, Tier 1: Rule of six applies and pubs and bars have to be shut for 10pm.

High, Tier 2: All indoor mixing is banned but socially distanced outdoor meetings are allowed, this includes private gardens.

Very High, Tier 3: All household mixing is banned with closure of pubs and bars.

Johnson confirmed in his statement that Merseyside will move into Tier 3 restrictions as of Wednesday, after a rise of 609 new cases with overall cases now totalling 11,833.

In the past 24 hours the numbers of cases in Manchester rose by 333 taking the total up to 12,958 leading the area to enter Tier 2 restrictions.

Overall the total cases in England increases to 526,086 which is a 11,647 increase from yesterday.
