The Ammies visit to the University of Bolton stadium left them with their third straight league defeat away from the Peninsula Stadium.
A frustrating evening for Salford City as they take a loss under the new management of Richie Wellens. Wellens expressed his disappoint after this match had followed up on two wins with him in his new role.
In an interview with the Salford media he highlighted his issues with the match stating “our passing was non-existent” and “I’ve never seen so many turnovers in a game in quite a while”.
With these issues Bolton Wanderer’s Striker Eoin Doyle put the Trotters ahead before the interval and the Ammies went further behind during the second half courtesy of Jordan Turnbull’s own goal.

Brandon Thomas-Asante had a good chance to level in the first half but was denied by Matt Gilks. Then come the second half Gilks also denied a chance for Ash Hunter from the penalty area. In spite of the Wellen’s criticism to his team’s issues with passing he gave praise to Bruno Andrade and Luke Burgess on the Salford City website.
He said: “I thought Bruno and Burgess come on and they found pockets, they was good in possession, you could trust them with the ball so they made a difference.
In the first half there were too many people stood still, not making any movement or trying to get on the ball. If you want to be a passing team and people don’t move then that’s going to become very difficult.”
The match performance also brings into question the changes made which had included a few to the team with Di’Shon Bernard and George Boyd replacing Ash Eastham and the injured James Wilson. They will have the time in between their loss and their next match against Bradford city on Saturday to figure out how to improve moving forward and bounce back.
