Salford and the rest of Greater Manchester will remain in tier 3 after this morning’s review.
Hope for Greater Manchester moving into tier 2 was high after Andy Burnham said on Wednesday that the region had a ‘clear case’ for the restrictions to be lowered.
There were also rumours that Greater Manchester would be split up by borough.
Two weeks since the second lockdown ended, Salfordians and all of Greater Manchester were thrown into tense high alert restrictions where we will stay for the Christmas period.
These restrictions see the hospitality industry remain shut imposing huge financial loss for the regularly booming industry.
It also sees us unable to meet anybody indoors or outdoors who we do not live with unless, they are apart of an established support bubble, or you meet in a public place like parks.
Groups of course are required to stick to the rule of six, entertainment venues will remain shut and hotels and B&Bs keep their doors shut to anyone who doesn’t reside there.
Sacha Lord, Night Time Advisor for Greater Manchester, has been passionate in his support of the hospitality industry throughout the pandemic.
He tweeted this morning that regardless of what happens today ‘The fight will continue.’
Whatever happens tomorrow, Tier 2 or 3, one thing’s for sure:
The UK have witnessed the shameful way this Government have treated Hospitality.
They’ve closed business, mass redundancies, forced people into immense debt, crushed their mental well being.

He has since described the tier review as a ‘Kick in the teeth.’

Health Secretary Matt Hancock addressed MPs at the House of Commons this morning to discuss changes to the tiers.
Hancock opened his statement with: “As we enter the coldest months we must be vigilant and keep this virus under control”
“Across the world cases are rising.”
He acknowledged that even in a normal year, the festive period is the business time for the NHS.
Almost all of those in Tier 3 will remain in tier 3 with the only drops to Tier 2 occurring in Bristol and North Somerset.
Hertfordshire will move from Tier 2 to Tier 1.
