Salford audiences can enjoy the premiere of a new play ‘Hold Me Close’ at Salford Arts Theatre on October 15.
The northern comedy-drama written and directed by Joe Walsh features a working-class family in a touching story about redemption and finding your feet again.
The show, written in lockdown, emphasises the importance of family and how reality TV can influence people in the modern-day.
He said: “The play isn’t directly inspired by my parents, grandparents, family or anything like that.
“But it’s the little things that they might do where I think ok, I might put that in.”
Tickets for the Two In A Bed Theatre Company production are already selling well, with people itching to watch local theatre after the hiatus from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Regarding Salford Arts Theatre, Joe said: “It’s slap bang in the middle of a working-class community, which I think is really important for this play.
“Tickets have done well so far; I think people are dying to see theatre again which is great news.”
Two In A Bed Theatre Company were set to show their play ‘Fossils’ at the Salford Arts Theatre in July 2020, but it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Joe has previously performed in one of their in-house productions and is excited to showcase ‘Hold Me Close’ at the theatre.
He added: “The writing is inspired by people who are from local communities.”
Doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 7.30pm.
