Adelphi Lads Club is going under the hammer next month with a guide price of £900,000.

The building on Cannon Street, which has been abandoned since a fire ripped through its main hall in 2010, will be put up for auction on the 17th of December.

While there have been calls to refurbish the building because of its historical significance, in 2019 the council approved plans for it to be demolished and replaced with residential apartments and commercial units. The buyer will inherit these plans.

The Adelphi Lads Club was one of the first youth clubs in the UK, founded in 1888. When the fire left the building derelict, over 120 years of memorabilia was destroyed and the club was disbanded.

The auction will take place online, and anyone can attend or get involved here.
