An annual community festival is set to return to Salford for its third annual edition hosting celebrations full of music, dance, food, and cultural exchange.

Community organisation, Lusoconnection UK, has announced the return of the CPLP Summer Breeze Festival that will take place on Saturday 19 July.

The third annual festival will be hosted at The Lighthouse Venue in Salford and will look to create opportunities for connection across all backgrounds.

Lusoconnection UK, are an Organised by Lusoconnectionuk, a Community Interest Company (CIC) that supports Portuguese-speaking communities across Greater Manchester.

The festival will start at 1pm, and will continue until 9pm – and will celebrate 50 years of independence for four Portuguese-speaking nations – Angola, Cape Verde, Mozambique, and Sao Tome and Principe.

And to honour the celebrations it will aim to highlight the richness and diversity of Lusophone heritage.

During the festival, the lineup will feature performers from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé, Brazil, and the UK.

The third annual event will aim to showcase a diverse mix of traditional rhythms and contemporary sounds.

From upbeat performances to soulful ballads, the festival offers something for every music lover.

Visitors on the day will also be able to participate in interactive workshops throughout the day, including Capoeira, Batuku, and Kizomba.

There will also be session available for babies and toddlers, making the event inclusive for all ages.

The festival also features a variety of food and service stalls. Visitors can enjoy dishes from CPLP countries alongside flavours from other communities.

Local traders will also showcase handmade goods, cultural products, and health awareness initiatives.

Elisangela de Pina, founder of Lusoconnectionuk said: “This year’s theme allows us to honour the journeys of four CPLP nations that gained independence 50 years ago.

“ It’s a moment to celebrate freedom, identity, and cultural pride, not just for the Lusophone community, but with everyone around us.

“Through music, food, and shared experiences, the festival brings people together and highlights what we all have in common,” Elisangela de Pina continued.

The CPLP Summer Breeze Festival 2025 promises to be a family-friendly, inclusive celebration that unites Lusophone and local communities through creativity and culture.

The event has also been supported by Salford City Council, Health Improvement Connect and the Heritage Fund.
