Planning permission has been sought for a new Asda on a former garage site in Cadishead.

Under the plans the now closed Automech garage in Cadishead would given a new lease of life.

A planning application made to Salford City Council in September 2025 described the plot as being used for a “class E retail unit.”

AIM Capital developers confirm the site is set to become a small Asda convenience store.

A LinkedIn post on behalf of AIM Capital said: “We look forward to bringing Asda’s heritage in delivering outstanding value to local communities, when the brand-new store opens in 2025.”

The application also proposes a new shop front, parking layout, and reconfiguration of the existing building.

In addition to the building, new double yellow lines will also be installed on Penry Avenue, connecting to the pre-existing double yellow lines on Liverpool Road.

The junction connecting Penry Avenue to Liverpool Road may require resurfacing, the report suggests.

The store was provisionally set to open in 2025, and includes thirteen car parking spaces.
