THE University of Salford’s Student Union and the University’s netball team have joined forces in support This Salford Girl Can.

On Friday 10th March 2017, Salford’s Student Union invites all female students to come along and get involved in playing netball.

All you have to do is submit a team in advance or join one on the day. Everyone is welcome and it’s all totally free.

This Salford Girl Can is a scheme set up by the University which campaigns on issues around women’s participation, friendship and self-care in sports.

Lizzie Titchard, organiser of the event, has expressed the importance of this event saying: “It’s a big promotion for This Salford Girl Can campaign, which is trying to encourage all women, staff, students and alumni alike to take part in sports, and stay fit and active in a women’s only environment.

“I’ve been leading up the event in conjunction with the student’s union and the team Salford sport activators now for a few months, and it’s taken a small dedicated team of people networking out to find players, promoting on social media and working behind the scenes.

“It’s been quite a bit of work, but very rewarding to organise.”

Not only has Lizzy organised the event happening at the University of Salford, but she is also a university netball officer working for England netball to help deliver a program of netball that is accessible to everyone.

Following the event there will be a UV after party at the Students Union bar, which is also FREE! The bar will be totally kitted out with UV lights, drinks deals and a DJ.

So, what’s not to like, any enquiries about submitting teams for the event or attending the after party, please email lizzie.titchard@gmail.com or comment on the event pages:
