BETWAY Premier League Darts will be held at the Manchester Arena next week on Thursday March 23, where five matches will commence.
The Manchester event will be the eighth night of the league tournament, and will host the following games:
Michael van Gerwen vs James Wade
Kim Huybrechts vs Gary Anderson
Raymond van Barneveld vs Michael van Gerwen
The most anticipated game will be between Dutch competitors, Van Barneveld and – currently ranked world number one – Van Gerwen.
Though this will be the main match of the night, all contestants in the league really are darts superstars.
Michael van Gerwen, also known as Mighty Mike, is Dutch and a two-time World Darts Champion.
James Wade, who will play against the number one dart player before Van Barneveld, has a total of eight major titles- titling him the second most successful player in the PDC’s history.
Kim Huybrechts, or The Hurricane, is Belgian and made it to the quarter finals of the PDC world championship in 2012.
Gary Anderson, or The Flying Scotsman, is originally from Scotland and has won the PDC world championships over the last two years, making him second in the PDC world ranking.
Peter Wright, who is also Scottish, is nicknamed Snake Bite and recently won his first TV title when he beat Gerwyn Price in the UK Open final.
Phil “The Power” Taylor is a right-handed 16 times world darts champion originally from Stoke-on-Trent.
Jelle Klaasen, nicknamed The Cobra, is ranked number nine by the PDC, after he reached the semi-final of the PDC World Championship last year.
Adrian Lewis is a two-time PDC World Championship winner, and is placed fourth in the world darts ranking.
Raymond van Barneveld is Dutch, like Van Gerwen, and has won many competitions, including the UK Open two years in a row, and the PDC World Championship in 2007.
The limited number of tickets left are selling quickly and are priced between £23 and £41.
Door opening times are to be confirmed, so keep checking the Manchester Arena’s website for further updates.
The event encourages fancy dress, but the Manchester Arena advise to keep any costumes sensible, and not politically or sports biased.
They insist that there will be checks on the door, and banned items to the event include inflatables, toy weapons, whistles, air horns, party poppers, spray string, alcohol, and darts, whether they are pretend or not.
