KIDS from in and around Manchester can now live out their dreams and become mermaids and sharks.
Claire Roberts launched the classes at Ashton Pool and as a qualified teacher she’s taken part in the Fin2fit mermaid training course to become Manchester’s only mermaid instructor.
Fin2fit are the UK’s only fully accredited Mono-Fin qualification service, which includes their Swimming Programme Award scheme for children.
Not only is Ms Roberts offering mermaid lessons, she is also offering experiences and parties and has been drowned in responses from parents and kids keen to take part.
Ms Roberts, of Droylsden, Greater Manchester, said: “It all started last year with my mermaid obsessed daughter
“We bought her a mermaid tail for our holidays but when we came back it was kept packed away as you’re not allowed to use them in public swimming pools.”
This gave Ms Roberts the motivation to find a course affiliated with the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) and the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS).
After successfully completing the course, she has launched Splash Mermaid Academy Manchester, Fin2fit, running classes at Ashton swimming pool on Saturday’s and parties and experiences at other times.
Mrs Roberts is holding an open day later this month to give people a chance to see about what she is offering.
She has been inundated with queries as parents want to bring their child’s dream a reality by providing them with mermaid lessons and experiences and this was one of Ms Roberts biggest aims since before creating the academy.
The open day takes place at 2.15pm on Saturday, March 25.
