The award-winning ‘Mum2Mum Market’ returned to Swinton to sell second-hand toys to families in need.

As seen on BBC’s ‘Dragon’s Den’, the award-winning baby and children’s market set up its stalls in Fletcher Hall, Vicarage Road, on Saturday afternoon.

The market allows parents to sell and buy ‘nearly new’ toys, clothes and baby equipment at a fraction of the price of retail stores.

Stephanie Peel, a mother from Walkden, enjoys holding a stall at the market. She said:

“I’m new to the area so I’m getting used to the community, I’m making new friends, and that is quite important to me because I suffered from post-natal depression.

“So, getting me out  and doing these kinds of things have helped me as well mentally.”

After buying part of the franchise in June, Jo Hewitt, Event Manager of Mum2Mum Market Swinton, was pleased with the reception of the event, and urges more to get involved:

“With Salford being a deprived area, it means that everyone has the same opportunities to have different toys and equipment as it is all affordable.

“The market is so popular because it’s affordable, it’s really good for the local community…and it helps reduce the amount of plastic waste that goes to landfill.”

The next Mum2Mum market is on September 7th December 2pm – 4pm at Fletcher Hall, Vicarage Road.
