Destination Florida cast a spell over Eccles on the 20th of October as they raised funds to take underprivileged children on holidays that otherwise may never have been possible.

Over the weekend, the charity offered a myriad of spooky activities for everyone to get involved with, ranging from face painting to an interactive experience with creepy crawlies and other exotic animals.

Trip Manager, Ben Morrison expressed how the event is more than just making money and he wants to focus on how much fun the families are having; “For 30 years we’ve taken 75 children to Florida who have life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses.”

The resident DJ of the event was none other than CBBC’s own Dave Benson Phillips from the iconic children’s TV programme ‘Get Your Own Back.’ Mr Phillips explained how after the show’s success, he decided to take it on the road and bring the fun to the public.

“I’m very excited to be here today at the family Halloween event, the reason why I’m here is because someone asked me to bring my gunge tank along and all my disco tunes.”

The charity has been providing a once in a lifetime holiday since 1987 and since then, has expanded the numbers it can cater for.

‘I’m the lucky one that is very humbled and passionate but it’s everyone else that gets their hands dirty and without them we wouldn’t have events like this.’ states Ben Morrison
