A memorial service will take place today at Old Trafford to mark the 62nd anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster.

Two Salford-born players died in the tragedy at the Munich-Riem Airport, West Germany, on 6th February 1958.

Fans and relatives will gather today outside Manchester’s United’s home at 2:45pm, before observing a minute’s silence at 3.04pm, the exact time the plane crashed on the runway.

Eddie Coleman and Geoff Bent were well loved and admired by Manchester united fans.

These Salford-born players, along with the other 21 people who sadly died, will be honored through several prayers, poems and songs.

Everyone is welcome to attend the memorial and lay wreathes in memory of those who lost their lives.

For supporters who are unable to attend, Manchester United TV will be live streaming the event online.
