The important win saw Ashley Hunter, who is on loan from Fleetwood, scoring after 10 minutes and almost undergo a hat-trick in stoppage time but was denied by O’Donnels save with his feet.
This totals a number of four goals from Hunter in the last three games, with two strikes from outside the box.
Assistant manager Chris Lucketti praised a great perfomance in reaction to their 2-0 win.
He said: “They [Hunter’s goals] were top class and he’s a top class player, we know that because we’ve worked with him before and we knew what he’s capable of, and he’s showing it in every opportunity at the moment with two great goals today.”
However, despite all the thrill among fans, Salford are head to head with ‘The Grecians’ who have won ten out of their eighteen home matches.
Playing in all blue, Salford could have the chance to drive another 3 points which will could close the gap on Bradford in hopes that they lose their next game against Forest Green.
Especially with Exeters recent form concluding three losses and two draws in their last five games, Salford could be seen at an advantage since their two recent wins away.
The action takes place March 14 in a 3pm kick-off at St. James Park.
