A Salford Brewery has won an award at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival.

ShinDigger Brewing Co. based at Springfield Lane in Salford were named winners of the “Best Food and Drink Delivery” category in recognition of their continued operation throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

The award by the Manchester Food and Drink Festival recognises the best food and drink delivery boxes created to serve the community with food and drink during the lockdown.

Alex van den Broek, distribution manager for ShinDigger, says the team’s typical working day has changed radically as they business has adapted to changing lockdowns and restrictions

“In March, it started off as just our inhouse team. We all just changed our roles overnight.

“It was kinda do or die for the industry as a whole. Because no one knew what was happening and what to expect.

“We knew we had a good product and a good team, but at that point, everything was closing indefinitely.

“It wasn’t obvious what the outcome would be. So we all just sort of had to dig in and come up with ideas.”

Alex then went further and described how much the award meant to the business and the future long-term plans of the business.

Before the pandemic, 80-90% of ShinDigger’s business went from trading with bars and pubs across Salford and Manchester. With that in mind and in a way to keep supplying their loyal customers, the business created a ‘Home Delivery’ service.

Creating a dedicated website titled ‘ShinDigger live’, the service provides delivery under three hours within the M60 area.

Founded in 2012 by co-founders George Grant and Paul Delamere, ShinDigger has over 12 different styles of beer. Ranging from a standard lager, fruit blended pilsner as well as coffee-infused beers.

Back in March, ShinDigger Brewing Co. partnered with Brewgooder as part of their Global Gathering campaign, where they released the ‘The Big Splash’ tallboy.

The drink that was released back in March, allowed for 100% of the profits to go towaards the vital funding of water projects in Malawai.

ShinDigger has still found time to enhance their existing line-up of beer. In the coming months the brewery will relase two new products, a raspberry ripple sour and a brand new hoppy IPA ‘Different Gravy’.
