Lea Reveley

Eccles-born author Lea Reveley has been dropping off packs of signed copies of her children’s book in Salford parks.

Reveley, 44, originally from Eccles and now living in Manchester, previously worked as a children’s entertainer but switched her career during lockdown.

Upon publishing her new book “Tommy’s Unstoppable Gran & The Magic Potion”, the mother of three has been dispensing her books in the parks she went to as a child.

She said: “I noticed that there was a scheme in parks where people left books for kids to find.

“It has been really well received, so I thought why don’t I do it with mine? Hopefully, someone will enjoy it.

“When it’s been dry I’ve gone to parks early in the morning dropping off packs with a signed book, sweets including Jammie Dodgers, (they’re in the book, Tommy’s favourite biscuits), and a bookmark.

“Hopefully people are talking about the book and chatting about it!”

Lea visited Winton, Eccles, and Goddies (Godfrey Ermen’s Park) which are all in the Salford area.

She said: “The three parks were the ones I used to go to when I was little.

“They’ve changed they’re so much better, in my day they had one swing and one slide!

“I took my daughter, she’s eight, as my little helper, she climbed to the top of the slide and put the packs up there!

Lockdown put Lea’s previous career on hold giving her more time to focus on her writing.

She said: “Writing has always been something I love, I thought maybe I could write a book over a year ago.

“I used to work as a children’s entertainer, since Covid I thought this was a good a time as any to give writing my best shot, we’ve had to adapt [to Covid] but a few good things came out.

“The book is about Tommy and his Gran. He spends a lot of time with her as his mum’s always working.

“They go on a fun adventure, Gran is a fun character as she always messes things up!

“They come across a book that gran finds, she thinks it will match her cushion covers, they find out it has magical qualities and she becomes a sort-of super gran.

“Writing has always been something I love. ”

Tommy’s Unstoppable Gran & The Magic Potion is aimed at children 7- 12 and is available on Amazon for £6.99
