The highly anticipated bout was due to take place on 18 December, but Fury has been forced to pull out with an injury and illness.

Paul confirmed former UFC champion Tyron Woodley will be stepping in the Salford boxer’s place on the night, in a rematch with the YouTube star in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Speaking on Instagram, Fury revealed: “Training camp couldn’t have gone any better for me for the first week or two but then I contracted a bacterial chest infection which led me to go to the gym and not being able to breathe.

“My sparring sessions, pad work sessions, whatever it may be I wasn’t able to breathe and I was coughing up huge amounts of phlegm all the time.

“It led me to sleepless nights and that went on for about four weeks. I had the mindset of, I’m going to train, I’m going to get through this, I’m going to fight no matter what.

“And Four weeks past and we decided to have a sparring session and I took a little clip to the body and because my body was so weak due to the virus, I instantly knew something wasn’t right.

“I was throwing up from the pain, I was doubled over. I literally got my bag and went straight to the hospital for an MRI scan and got the results back the same day.

“The results uncovered that I had a clean break on my rib and I had multiple fractures. For the following week I still thought I could fight but then it took the doctor and my whole team to say look you’ve got a broken rib and multiple fractures you can’t fight.

“Even now it hasn’t sunk in that I’m not fighting. My only focus is getting a new fight date set and recovering.

“I can’t do anything else apart from getting my body right as quickly as possible and look for a new fight date with Jake Paul.

“There is no other fight out there, that’s the fight I want next and hopefully we can work out a new date for next year.

“Finally guys I just want to say a massive thank you for all the support during the training camp, I’m sure people will have their own opinions on the situation, but there is nothing I can do when it comes down to it about being medically unfit to fight.”

Love Island star Fury, 22, included images from the MRI scan in the video to show his injuries.

Paul, 24, responded yesterday in a Twitter video with a verbal assault on the Englishman: “It is official, Tommy Fury is boxing biggest b****.

“He has pulled out of the fight; the Fury’s have pulled out of the fight due to a medical condition.”

He added: “I couldn’t believe the news at first, it still doesn’t even seem real.

“He fumbled the biggest bag of his life, now he will be watching at home, paying me $60, instead of getting paid millions of dollars to fight me.

“I’ve fought with a broken nose, I’ve fought sick, get the f*** over it, this is boxing.

“It’s official, he was scared, I think the pressure got to him, the s*** talk got to him.”

He added: “The good news is that Mr Tyron Woodley, we called him up, we were like, ‘hey do you want to take the fight’, he has been training, he goes ‘sure I’ll take the fight, let’s do the rematch, run it back’.

“I’m giving him $500,000 extra if he can knock me out.

“I didn’t knock him out the first time, I’m coming back.

“December 18th, the show must go on, I’ll see you guys there.”

The big money fight has been heavily criticised due to the pair’s novice records.

Paul’s 4-0 record has recently come under fire due to not having fought an actual boxer, which led to Fury being dubbed the Americans biggest test yet.

Tommy has so far has a professional record of 7-0 but is also still yet to be tested by a notable opponent.

Hopefully, the pair can reschedule their grudge match in the new year after the Paul vs Woodley fight, which is set for 18 December.
