A series of free ‘Digital Skills Workshops’ aimed at increasing women’s employability have been commissioned from Salford Foundation

Planned for Thursday 24th November, the course will be a basic introduction to digital skills taught by a tutor from Corinth Training CIC.

The workshops aim to bring women up to speed with use of computers and laptops to aid employment and access to opportunities.

Rosie Brindle-Wilkinson, of Salford Foundation, said: “We will be covering how to use a mouse and keyboard, how to search the internet effectively, keeping safe online and how to set up or use emails.

“We’re aiming to build people’s self-confidence and independence when using a computer day-to-day, as well as giving people the skills to send emails and apply for jobs or training online.

“The women will be in a small group, which will be a supportive environment for learning. Any level of experience is welcome.

“The course will be beneficial for women who do not feel confident using a laptop or computer. Women who know the very basics but would like to develop their knowledge a little more are also welcome.

“It would be beneficial for women to attend all four sessions. However, we understand that is not always possible. Attendees will have to provide some basic information to sign up to the course including name, address, date of birth and national insurance number.”

This event is for women who are over the age of 18 in Salford, and bus passes can be supplied, if necessary.

Professionals are also welcome to refer people to Salford Foundation via referral form on Salford Foundation’s website.

Places will be limited but there will be other opportunities in the future if people are interested with the possibility of more advanced courses.

You can sign up for the workshop by emailing rosie.brindle-wilkinson@salfordfoundation.org.uk or calling Salford Foundation on 0161 787 8500.
