The volunteer group, ASEZ WAO, were recently awarded the Salford Citizen Award at the Salford Civic Centre.

The group, who are affiliated with the World Mission Society Church of God in Manchester, were given the award last week based on their outstanding community service efforts.

Madam Mayor Gina Reynolds welcomed the ASEZ WAO representatives to the Civic Centre, where she took them on a tour of the historic chamber, sharing insights into the rich history of Salford over afternoon tea.

One of their projects in Salford includes planting 600 trees to reduce carbon emissions.

Since the award they have also conducted other community projects, one being at Clifton Country Park in Salford last week.

Around 80 volunteers gathered at the park to remove a “pesky” plant called Himalayan balsam on Sunday May 5.

A spokesperson for ASEZ WAO said: “The Salford Citizen Award serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of ASEZ WAO in enhancing the well-being of the local area.

“As they continue their mission of service and volunteerism, ASEZ WAO remains committed to fostering positive change and creating a brighter future for all.”
